Ali Trofe
Bio

Ali's passion for teaching piano developed early on and has only grown over the years through her rewarding experiences as a piano instructor. Her first step on this journey was teaching piano at Burn Brae Day Camp of the Creative Arts in her hometown in Dresher, Pennsylvania. In 2020, Ali received her Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Susquehanna University, and in 2022, completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Through both schools’ private lesson programs, Ali taught numerous piano students, ranging from age 3 to adult. While in Greensboro, she was a piano instructor at the Music Academy of North Carolina. Now, she is a piano faculty member of Settlement Music School while also teaching private students in her home studio.

In addition to her background in piano education, Ali has equal practice in the realm of performance. She has played a large range of keyboard repertoire spanning everywhere from harpsichord pieces of the baroque era to contemporary ensemble pieces written by her talented colleagues at University. Besides dozens of solo and collaborative performances at Susquehanna and UNCG, Ali has performed with the West Shore Symphony Orchestra in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with the North Carolina All-State Honors Band, and at Niigata University during her study abroad experience in Japan.

When she is not immersed in teaching or playing piano, Ali can often be found enjoying the outdoors or dancing. One of Ali’s areas of pedagogical interest/research is the use of creative movement in the field of music education. She has presented this topic at the Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Symposium in a presentation titled, "Dare to Dance: Applying Movement to Piano Lessons."
